Do you Love to READ?

Starting on Tuesday, 22 September 2015
Join 1JustCity for a four month book club of conversation on issues of justice. Facilitated by Tessa Blaikie and Katherine Davis of 1JustCity for a discussion on justice issues, local and global as they relate to Winnipeg.

Framing the discussion for the group will start with a choice between three texts: “The Inconvenient Indian: by Thomas King, “Wages of Rebellion by Chris Hedges or “The Right to be Cold” by Sheila Watt-Cloutier.

Our first meeting will be over a bag dinner provided by Prairie Ink Restaurant as we discuss the concept of Justice as we understand it, practice consensus modelling to select a book, and map out our time together. Weekly chapter updates will be provided and when we come back together after a month there will be a speaker discussing the issues of the text chosen. The following month we’ll discuss the text in more depth and in what ways we might act from this knowledge, two weeks later we’ll do just that. Come have a Just Read and move from Just Reading to living out Justice.
