A Message from our Friend and Justice making ally Chuck of Christian Peacemaker Teams Indigenous Justice Unit.

Greetings, friends.

If you haven’t seen this already on Facebook, I wanted to draw your attention to a crowdfunder for the Anishinaabe Water Walk happening this summer in Treaty 3 territory August 3-7.

This walk is being initiated by the Grassroots Indigenous Water Defence, which formed after they saw a need to reach Anishinaabek communities in a way that resonates with our worldview as being stewards of the land and protectors of water.

The walk will happen along Transcanada’s proposed Energy East pipeline starting at Eagle Lake First Nation – the eastern edge of Treaty 3 territory – and ending at Shoal Lake.

They are looking for financial support to accommodate the food, transportation, and shelter of as many walkers as possible. This walk is an important part of mobilizing people in Treaty 3 territory and beyond to oppose the Energy East pipeline that threatens our shared waterways. Please consider donating and share the link widely:
