Heard a good story lately?

Heard someone tell you a story about someone who lives with poverty?

What about have an opportunity to hear someone tell their story? This is what our compassionate listeners do at our three drop-ins all the time. But, often when we translate that story, when we’re telling it on someone’s behalf, we might highlight different parts than they did – we might leave out the part that was most important to them. The challenge is that often those who experience challenges also experience barriers, whether those barriers be in the form of literacy, capacity, support or equipment required to share their story. So, 1JustCity endeavoured to support our guests in sharing their story in way they would like it to be told. We did this thanks to the generosity of the United Church of Canada Foundation of Canada through the Watkins Fund & Ann Baker Estate Trust for Innovative Ministries with Senior Adults.
