He’s the voice of Hot 103‘s evening show, spinning some the hottest tracks in Winnipeg, but it wasn’t long ago that Bubba B wrestled with some of the same issues he’s passionate about battling today.

Growing up, Bubba alternated between giving and receiving charity. He remembers being able to play on local sports teams thanks to community programs that supported underprivileged kids. He also remembers delivering hampers in his neighborhood at Christmas time.

“The whole concept of sharing and helping others was always there in my life,” Bubba recalls. “I know that today, many families in Winnipeg live on the edge, like mine did. It’s important there’s somewhere they can turn to for help when they need it.”

Today, in between a successful career as a radio DJ and one of Winnipeg’s most-recognized hip hop artists, ‘B’ as he is affectionately known, lends his time to support grassroots charities.

“Once you become aware of something, like the issues of homelessness, gangs and poverty, it becomes hard to pretend it doesn’t exist anymore,” he says. “So I help out where I can by doing positive work.”
